Hawa Mahal Museum


The Museum

It is inside the confines of the HAWA MAHAL situated in Jaipur City. Built by Maharajah Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799, it has a honeycomb structure just like the Palace itself with the windows so made for the easy passage of air throughout the year. Famously known as the Palace of Winds, it has thousands of small windows. If you look from outside, from a distance, it looks like a beehive. It has been so made that the winds can come and go through the Palace throughout the year keeping the Palace temprate as per the changing seasons.

The Museum

Standing in the heart of the Calcutta city near on the Jawaharlal Street, this mammoth building has a case filled with surprises and the old age documentaries. Welcome to a place where the dinosaurs stand in silence and the paintings wait to have a chat. It seems as if you are entering a huge Castle with the old age coming out from all the corners. Its a feeling which one can experience only if he/she is here.

The Calcutta Indian Museum has been divided into six sections - Archeology, anthropology, geology, zoology, industry and art. All of them have a special place, as they have the uniqueness of being there. It takes at least 3 DAYS to see the entire Museum.

National Archives Museum

The NATIONAL ARCHIVES is an entity of the office of Department of Culture under the ministry of Tourism and Culture. It is the depository of the old records of Govt. of India. The documents kept here is for the use of the Administrators and the scholars. But then it is also open for the Common man to see. It has one of the oldest records of India, as old as when India was known to the world as Bharat.

Its a reflection of the past and it projects the country with all its developments. All the different facets of the country are enclosed in the premises of the National Archives Museum. Its a worth going place because of the sanctity it has.

Nehru Memorial Museum

Who has not heard of Jawahar Lal Nehru - the First Prime Minister of India. Fondly called as Chacha Nehru by children , this museum made in the honour of Nehruji , is a reflection of the lifestyle and life of Jawahar Lal Nehru. Here you can hear the footsteps of Nehruji, or may be you can see him standing just across the table - its upto you how far you can run your imagination.

Just South of Rashtrapati Museum, there stands the Nehru Memorial Museum. Once the residence of the First Indian Prime Minister, now it has been converted into a Museum to keep alive the memories of Pundit Jawahar Lal Nehru. It is also known as Teen Murthi House.

Prince Of Wales Museum

Set up in the 20th century it has been recently renamed as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharajah Museum. It was built to commemorate the arrival of the Prince of Whales by some prominent citizens with the help of Indian Govt. Lying near the Gate of India it tells the tale of the era gone by.

State Museum Of Tripura

Stock Palace Museum
